full day field tour is a must for individuals interested in the
recent natural and cultural history of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
The tour is centered in the Bow Valley. Who were the first inhabitants
of the mountain areas? Who were and when did the first Europeans
arrive, and why? How did Banff National Park come to be? Tour participants
will learn the answers to these questions, and more, while touring
through the world class Canadian Rockies scenery. From secluded
petrographs to ancient encampments, this tour is a must for those
individuals wanting to gain some insight into the recent natural
and cultural history of the Canadian Rockies.
This tour includes several small walks and a 4km hike. Participants
should be in good physical condition. Calgary based tours
(lunch included) depart from Calgary at 8:00am and return at 5:30pm.
Banff based tours depart at 9:00 am and return at 4:30 pm.
